On South Americas southern frontier, nature grows wild, barren & beautiful. Spaces are large, as are the silences that fill them. For the newly arrived, such vastness can be as impressive as the sight of Patagonia’s jagged peaks, pristine lakes & rivers, & dusty backwater oases. Patagonia offers an innumerable wealth of potential experiences & landscapes.

Outdoorsy types will love El Bolson! A scenic, bohemian town in Patagonia, Argentina, known for its artisanal food, beer & crafts, beautiful landscapes, & hippie vibes. This friendly town boasts a big artisanal fair, lots of great food & microbreweries. Surrounded by pristine natural wonders, El Bolson offers some of the best hikes, lakes, waterfalls, and mountain views all within just 30 minutes of town.

Double (two beds in a shared room with shared bathroom)         $2,500

(the following schedule is subject to change)

Day 1

The trip will start in Bariloche with a welcome dinner, maybe a glass of Malbec (or two), and a good nights rest after your travels. For those who get in early you will have some time to explore a bit 🙂

Day 2

We will start our first day of the retreat with a morning yoga class & spend the rest of the day exploring the town of Bariloche. Checking out Lago Nahual Huapi, hike Cerro Campanario for the best views in town, taking a tour & a short hike around Circuito Chico, and stopping along the way for an artisanal beer or two at the Cerveceria Patagonia ;). Ending the day with dinner, drinks, & good times at the house.

Day 3

We will start the day on a short road trip (1.5 hours) along the iconic RN 40, the scenic highway that stirred affection in personalities such as Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid… Arriving in El Bolson ready to settle down, freshen up and eat lunch! After lunch we will do a small hike up Cerro Amigo to get the best views of El Bolson. Returning ready for a yoga class followed by dinner, drinks, & relaxation.

Day 4-8

We will start each day with a 9am yoga class followed by homemade brunch. Over the course of the 5 days we will take on 2 spectacular full day hikes at El Cajon de Azul & La Pasarela. Enjoy several smaller, very scenic hikes at Cerro Amigo, Cabeza del Indio, las Cascadas & Lago Puelo. Enjoy a day on the lake at the gorgeous Lago Puelo….relaxing, hiking, or paddle boarding (or all if your feeling extra spunky). You will also have plenty of free time to explore La Feria Artesanal, get the best ice cream of your life at Humus Farms or the famous Jauja (we highly recommend at least one daily dose of ice cream!), get a massage at Lumina Holistic Center, hop around tasting some of Bolson’s best craft beers, or just relaxing in a hammock with a good book.

We will end each day with 8:30pm dinner back at Santuario Patagonia where we will enjoy great food, great wine & great times spent relaxing with friends.

Below is some more detailed information on some of the places you will visit on your trip….

La Feria Artesanal

Spend a few hours wandering around this vibrant market for shopping, food, and live music. Local artisans sell everything from woodcarvings, to natural perfumes & soaps, to jewelry. The food ranges from typical Argentine fare, to fresh, locally grown fruits & vegetables, to craft beer and even vegan sandwiches.

La Lumina

There is an abundance of holistic healing going on in El Bolson. You’ll find lots of health shops, massage therapists & reiki specialists to help with all of your spiritual & physical needs. Head to Lumina, an incredible holistic space in a unique pink adobe building that offers all sorts of messages, therapies, acupuncture, reiki, and yoga.

Taste Craft Beer

El Bolson is known for it’s hop-growing & craft beer production so be sure to try a few cold ones at a microbrewery or the artisan market!

Lago Puelo

Just 9 miles south of El Bolson, this gorgeous national park offers lots of easy walks, paddle boarding, kayaking, and boat trips. But it’s real glory are the brilliant turquoise waters of Lago Puelo.

Strung out along the shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi, in the middle of the national park of the same name, Bariloche (formally San Carlos de Bariloche) has one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable. The soaring peaks of Cerros Catedral, López, Nireco and Shaihuenque (to name just a few) – all well over 2000m high – ring the town, giving picture-postcard views in nearly every direction. These mountains aren’t just for gazing, though – excellent snow coverage (sometimes exceeding 2m at the end of the season) makes this a winter wonderland, and a magnet for skiers and snowboarders. In summertime the nature buffs take over, hitting the hills to climb, hike trails, fish for trout and ride mountain bikes and horses.
